Akshay Kumar has been the busiest stars of the country for years in a row. The actor, who was the first to complete a start-to-end shoot during the pandemic, is now under a dilemma for the release dates of his upcoming release. While the actor is preparing and promoting for the release of Rohit Shetty’s cop-drama, Sooryavanshi, his another movie, Bell Bottom, is slated for a release weeks after the former.
Rohit Shetty directorial cop-drama, Sooryavanshi, was on the verge of release last year but it was pushed back and forth due to the pandemic crisis. Now that the makers have finally zeroed down to a release date for the actioner, Akshay Kumar will have two of his movies releasing with a difference of less than a month. According to a source close to the actor, he is convincing the producers of Bell Bottom to push the release giving ample time for his fans to watch him again on the big screen.
Given the hype for the cop-drama which already is a part of a successful movie franchise, releasing Bell Bottom in less than 4 weeks will be overkill for the fans of Akshay Kumar and the latter might not perform to its full potential. Meanwhile, the movie calendar of the year is heavily fitted with back to back big banner releases which were postponed due to the pandemic and associated lockdown and finding a new release date for Bell Bottom is another struggle to consider.
Helmed by Rohit Shetty, Sooryavanshi features Akshay Kumar in the titular character of DCP Veer Sooryavanshi along with Katrina Kaif as the female lead. The cop-drama also has cameos of Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh reprising their characters in Rohit Shetty’s cop-universe. On the other hand, Bell Bottom is a spy thriller set in the 80s and features Akshay Kumar in the lead alongside Vaani Kapoor, Huma Qureshi, and Lara Dutta in prominent characters.
