The second wave of the Coronavirus pandemic has created a panic for medical infrastructure and the majority of states announced a complete lockdown to curb the spread of the deadly virus. While Maharashtra was the first state to impose restrictions, the CM had restricted production activities in April. Now that the state is extending restrictions to another half-month, FWICE has penned down a special letter to CM Uddhav Thackeray seeking relaxations.

The Maharashtra government had suspended all shooting activities in the state and many television production houses shifted their base out of the state to continue filming. Meanwhile, the production of a number of movies due for completion is kept on hold. Seeking some relief and support for the daily wage workers, FWICE has penned down a letter to Chief Minister for resumption of work in the M&E industry.

The letter reads, “With reference to the subject matter, we would like to draw your attention to the numerous requests sent to you by the FWICE and the coordination committee regarding our request for resumption of work in the M&E Industry. However, none of our letters have been responded to by your good office and no decision has been taken on our requests.”

FWICE further pointed out the setbacks of extending the lockdown in the state and promised to adhere to safety measure if allowed to work. “FWICE and the co-ordination committee assure you that all the rules and regulations of the government shall be followed by each and every crew member and all necessary precautions shall be taken at each work location,” the letter concluded.
