Music composer Bharat Goel believes that reinventing an old hit is a major challenge since one is not only expected to do justice to the production of the song but also do the same to its composition and the creative parts.

Some of the hits that Goel has recreated include Nadeem-Shravan’s “Ek Bewafaa”, which is originally sung by Sonu Nigam. He has recreated it for Akshay Kumar-Kareena Kapoor starrer “Bewafaa” in 2005.

He strongly believes that the recreation of songs that are iconic comes with a challenge because one has to be fair to the production, and also the composition and creative part of the song. He says that it should be seamlessly flowing into the melody. Additionally, Goel also stresses how the composers need to keep in mind and live up to the reputation of the original track, especially when the old track is very much loved and popular amongst the audience. He says that’s exactly what comes across as a big challenge, but as a composer, he tried his best and he along with his team is quite pleased with what he has managed to achieve so far.

Debutant singer Sameer Khan has sung the recreated version and is penned by Kaushal Kishore. The video features actors Krystle Dsouza, Siddharthh Gupta and Akshay Kharodia and the song have been co-produced and programmed by Firoz Khan.

The composition, writing and production of the song were done during lockdown and Goel tells how the team had to manage the things over zoom calls and it was quite tough for them but he did it gracefully as he believes that they are all like-minded people. He says that Kishore’s writing, Sameer’s voice and his composition blended very smoothly and they managed to overcome that challenge. He feels content working with Sameer for the very first time and informs that they recorded in the studio itself.

Goel let us in on the song saying that their version of “Ek Bewafaa” is emotional, with hints of betrayal and sadness. He says that the melody seamlessly merges with the iconic tune that people are already familiar with and retaining its essence is what makes it stand out. Bharat realises that lyrics are an important part of a song and with his writings, Kaushal has done justice to the song’s vibe. He is so proud of Kaushal who he believes has written the song phenomenally- quite intense with the use of very deep and meaningful words.
