The ‘King’ of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan will be receiving an honorary doctorate degree from the Melbourne-based La Trobe University on the 9th of August for his contribution towards unprivileged children and women’s empowerment along with his achievements in the Indian entertainment industry.
La Trobe University becomes the first Australian university to present Shah Rukh Khan with an honorary degree which will be awarded to him at university’s Melbourne campus in Bundoora. The Vice-Chancellor of the La Trobe University, John Dewar, said that Shah Rukh Khan’s efforts for the societal change closely aligns with La Trobe’s values of inclusiveness, equity and social justice.
Shah Rukh Khan thanked the La Trobe University as quoted, “I’m proud to be conferred with a great university like La Trobe which has a long-standing relationship with Indian culture and impressive track record in advocating for women’s equality. I feel truly privileged to receive this Honorary Doctorate and I would like to sincerely thank La Trobe for choosing to recognise my achievements in such a humbling way”
