Shah Rukh Khan’s paternal cousin sister, Noor Jehan, passed away in Peshawar, Pakistan, after a prolonged illness. The family of Noor Jehan broke the sad news and informed the Pakistani media about the untimely death of the lady. Jehan’s younger brother Mansoor Ahmed confirmed the unfortunate news and said that she had been battling oral cancer for a long time now.
Noor Jehan resided in Mohallah Shah Wali Qataal area close to Peshawar’s Qissa Khwani Bazaar and for the unversed, she is the paternal cousin of the Bollywood actor, Shah Rukh Khan. Noor Jehan’s husband, Asif Burhan, earlier said that Shah Rukh’s father and Jehan’s father were siblings and Noor used to talk to her cousin brother Shah Rukh Khan over calls. She also visited the superstar in India twice in 1997 and 2011.
On the work front, Noor Jehan served as a district and town councillor and was politically active in Pakistan. She also had filed nomination papers for the provincial assembly PK-77 seat in the 2018 General Elections but withdrew it at the last moment for reasons unknown.
