Zoya Hussain who has starred in Mukkabaaz returns to the films with a new big-screen role in the movie, Haathi Mere Saathi, co-starring Rana Daggubati. Zoya reveals that she has refused the offers to play in many films in the past because she did not find anything unique in the characters.

She recalls being pointed out as ‘picky’ and hadn’t realised she was doing this unintentionally. Before the film Mukkabaaz, she had a bunch of offers and she declined them all. Hussain is quite careful of her acting in the films and she has nothing to “fall back on”. Although she dreams of a long and successful career, she doesn’t want to go from job to job and become an influencer or just advertise things. She aspires to be an actor, commercial as well as Indie, and build a filmography.

She adds by saying that the projects that she declined were for the sole reason that she felt like anyone could have played the roles. The projects she says were certainly not bad but the character could be easily played by anyone and she didn’t want to be a part of the film that made her feel like today it’s she and the next day it would be someone else.

She reveals that she would love to be part of stories where women have interesting roles. “I want to tell a nice story and be a nice character, which is important. Any genre is okay, I want to be part of good storytelling and portraying women who are not just plus-ones,” Zoya added.
