With the growing popularity of independent music in our country lately, singer Armaan Malik thinks that Indian songs of the independent music genre have the actual potential to top international charts in a few years.

He finds it amazing to see independent artists getting the recognition they deserve. The singer believes that there has been a large spike in non-Bollywood music consumption in our country and with the momentum that’s been picked up lately, he has no doubts that in the coming years India will get to see several Indian independent acts topping the charts internationally.

Armaan has recently teamed up with Korean-American singer-songwriter Eric Nam and international music producer KSHMR for his latest single “Echo”. The singer’s fans and Nam’s fans along with KSHMR’s dance music community have pushed t envelope when it comes to showering their love on the single. The singer reveals that they are receiving a lot of support right from social media to streaming platforms, and it all feels unreal.

Armaan says that he always been a huge fan of Niles, talking about KSHMR, whose actual name is Niles Hollowell-Dhar, adding. The singer’s love for his production dates back to the time when he was part of The Cataracs. Armaan believes that his contribution over the years as KSHMR has been legendary, groundbreaking and sonically unique.

About the collaboration with Eric Nam, Armaan said that despite the fact that Eric and he had never met in person, they developed an unexplained connection over the Internet. He says that their internet friendship started by appreciating each other’s work on Twitter and they developed a genuine mutual admiration and appreciation. Beyond music, Armaan loves how vocal Eric is regarding issues pertaining to Asians.

Questioned if he would like to collaborate with them again, the singer took no moment to say that he would do another song with them in no time because working on ‘Echo’ has been a breeze. With the lockdown, the singer has been spending his time with “Eat, sleep, make new music, repeat.”

He reveals ghat sometimes he even binge-watch his favourite TV series or movies, or play on his Playstation. Armaan also reveals that even though he is a super positive person but he hasn’t been at his best lately. Music has been his sole saviour to curb distress.
