Bollywood has never fallen back in entertaining the masses with its fictitious content or motion pictures based on the absoluteness of a situation or a person. Time and again Indian cinema has knitted the essence of life through its stories and performances by the artists.

Indian cinema is tuning well with the time and demand of public, has broadened its horizon and seems unstoppable with some stimulating biopics and setting the trend at the same time. These are the list of some interesting biopics by Indian cinema, which are all set to make an impact in 2019:

Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi

Based on the real life of  Warrior Queen Rani Lakshmi Bai, the movie will depict the intense bravery and valour of Lakshmi Bai who fought against the Britishers and led the first war for independence to protect her motherland.

Kangana Ranaut who is in the titular role has also directed the movie along with Radha Krishna Jagrlamudi and her fierce performance seen in the movie trailer is sublime and inspiring.

The Accidental Prime Minister

The political drama movie build on the book by Sanjaya Baru, the movie exposes the reasons for the insignificant functioning of the former Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh.

The trailer of this much awaited movie has garnered a lot of attention where Anupam Kher is seen essaying the character of Singh and Akshay Khanna as Sanjaya Baru who was the then media advisor of the former Prime Minister. The movie has been directed by Vijaya Ratnakar Gutte and has Hansal Mehta as the creative producer.

Thackeray

The biopic is based on the life and rise of one of the most influential politician of Maharashtra Balasaheb Thackeray, who formed his own political party Shiv sena in the year of 1966.

Written and co-produced by  Sanjay Raut, Nawazuddin Siddiqui will be playing the titular character of the most controversial politician, fearless and brave Balasaheb who fought ambitiously for his people and Nation.

Kesari

Akshay Kumar starrer Kesari is based on the Battle of Saragarhi where he is depicting the real life incident of Havildar Ishar Singh who was the leader of the 1897 battle against the Pashtun Orakzai tirbesmen. The movie will also have Parineeti Chopra in  a brief role playing Akshay’s wife.

 Chappaak

Meghna Gulzar and Deepika Padukone’s maiden production’s Chappaak is based on real life acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal with Deepika and Vikranty Massey in the lead. Deepika will be playing the character of the acid attack survivor. The movie is set to narrate the inspirational life journey of the survivors post the traumatic incident.

Super 30

Based on the struggles of Maths wizard Anand Kumar, Super 30 will see Hrithik Roshan playing Anand, who started the Super 30 programme and is famous for teaching unprivileged students and preparing them for engineering, IIT and JEE exams without any fees. The movie also stars television and Love Sonia fame actor Mrunal Thakur in a brief yet pivotal character.

Saina Nehwal Biopic

Yet-to-be titled biopic of Padma Bhushan Awardee badminton player Saina Nehwal will be played by none other than Shradhha Kapoor.  The actress is sweating hard practicing badminton under ace badminton coach Pullela Gopichand’s guidance.

This is not the first time when the Stree actress will be seen in a biopic, she has already been seen illustrating the life of underworld mafia Dawood Ibrahim’s sister Haseena Parkar, which unfortunately failed to leave an impressing impact on the audience.

Salute

Joining the league of biopic trend , the superstar of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan will be seen in Salute depicting the story of Indian Air force Pilot Rakesh Sharma, the first Indian ever to travel into space.

The actor has started prepping for his role in the movie which will be directed by Bhopal Express fame director Mahesh Mathai and if sources are to be believed Dangal star Fatima Sana Shaikh might be seen along side King Khan in the movie, who played his friend’s (Jackie Shroff) daughter in the movie One 2 ka 4 in 2001.

 

Gunjan Saxena Biopic

After creating magic as Parthavi in Dhadak, Jahnvi Kapoor will be soon seen in the biopic of Gunjan Saxena, India’s first women combat pilot.

The actress has started shooting for the movie which is yet to be titled,  wherein she will be essaying the character of Gunjan who endangered her life to save the injured Indian soldiers during the Kargil war of 1999.

72 Hours, Martyr Who Never Died 

Directed by Avinash Dhyani who also happens to be in the lead role in 72 hours, is the untold story of Rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat who fought bravely in the Indo-China war of 1965.

The story of the movie will illustrate the life of Martyr Rawat from Garhwal Rifles who stood fiercely against the enemies and was awarded with Mahavir Chakra for his bravery. The movie will also feature Alka Amin, Virendra Saxena and Shishir Sharma along with Avinash.

PM Narendra Modi

Following the trendy race of Biopics Omung Kumar’s ‘PM Narendra Modi’ is going to be based on the life of present Prime Minister Narendra Modi, one of the most iconic PMs of India.

The movie will star Vivek Oberoi in the titular role and the shooting for the same will begin early this year.

Shakeela

Helmed by Indrajit Lankesh the biopic is build around the real life story of south adult film actress Shakeela who went against the stereotype of an actress image in the late 90’s.

Richa Chadha who is going to play the character of Shakeela will depict the journey and the hatred she had to face  through out her career in the south film industry.

The makers have already released some intriguing posters of the movie in which the lead actress is looking all quirky and sensational.

Taanaji- The Unsung Warrior

The list of biopics for this year seems to be unstoppable and the biopic based on the life of Maratha commander Subedar Taanaji Malusare has made its way in the list. The brave warrior Taanaji was the commander-in-chief of army under Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Ajay Devgn who is known for his intense performances will be seen playing the character of Taanaji on silver screen. Being made under the direction of Om Raut, the first look poster of this highly anticipated movie looks all fierce and unstoppable.

The movie might also have Saif Ali Khan in it, however, no confirmation has been made yet. The movie will reunite Ajay and Saif back on big screen after Vishal Bhardwaj’s Omkara in 2006.
