The fifth season of Cobra Kai premiered on Netflix in September 2022 and it has been announced that the series will return for another season. However, amid the excitement of the fans, the upcoming sixth season of Cobra Kai will also be the show’s last.
Cobra Kai is a continuation of The Karate Kid movie franchise and originally premiered on YouTube. The show gained even greater popularity when it moved to Netflix for its third season. The series takes place 34 years after the events of the original Karate Kid and follows the rekindling of the rivalry between Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso.
Hayden Schlossberg recently told Deadline about the potential for a sixth season of Cobra Kai and stated that the creators have an ultimate goal for the series in mind. They are currently enjoying making the show and plan to end it before it becomes tedious, as they have a few more seasons already planned out. However, in a tweet from 2020, co-creator Jon Hurwitz stated that they would like to do at least six seasons.

The release date for the sixth season of Cobra Kai on Netflix has not been confirmed yet. In the past, the show had a semi-regular release schedule, with three seasons being released over a period of 20 months, starting with season 3 in January 2021 and most recently season 5 in September 2022. However, since the renewal and production for season 6 haven’t begun yet, it’s likely that the release date will be delayed to late 2023 or 2024.
