Akshay Kumar is best known for his fitness in the tinsel town and has been very vocal about it as well. While the actor has portrayed numerous characters on the big screen, he was interested in the biopic of former Indian cricket team captain, M. S. Dhoni.

When Akshay Kumar learnt about the development of the biopic, he contacted the director and expressed his interest in playing Dhoni on the big screen as he had earlier portrayed a cricketer in the movie Patiala House opposite Anushka Sharma. However, the director of the movie, Neeraj Pandey, wasn’t confident about him playing the character as he had considered someone else for the role.

Neeraj Pandey politely turned him down and approached Sushant Singh Rajput for the movie. Sushant, on the other hand, didn’t disappoint the makers and proved as the best choice for playing Dhoni on-screen. The movie went on to achieve critical and commercial success at the box office.
