Renowned chef Vikas Khanna made his directorial debut with the Neena Gupta starrer The Last Color and it couldn’t get any better as the movie has been selected in the list of feature films for the Academy Awards. The Last Color is among the 344 films eligible for a nomination in the Best Picture category at the 2020 Academy Awards.

Sharing the excitement for the unexpected entry in one of the world’s most valued movie awards, director and producer of the movie, Vikas Khanna, took to his social media to share a heartfelt note. “BEST WAY TO START 2020. MIRACLE. MIRACLE. Thank you UNIVERSE. Our humble film THE LAST COLOR is pure HEART. Oscars: Academy Announces 344 Films Eligible for 2019 Best Picture,” the filmmaker wrote as he shared a screenshot of the list issued by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

While the filmmaker jumped with joy with the achievement and shared a series of tweets congratulating the hard work of the team and the inspiration behind the project, lead actress Neena Gupta was surprised with the news and replied to Vikas’s tweet with excitement. The actress retweeted, “Cant believe am soooo happy.”

Helmed and bankrolled by Vikas Khanna, The Last Color revolved around the life of a 70-year-old widow played by Neena Gupta and the bond of her character with a 9-year-old girl portrayed by Aqsa Siddiqui, as she struggles to make the ends meet. The movie hasn’t been released commercially yet but was screened at the Mumbai Film Festival last year.
