The new decade kick-started with the first awards show of the year, Golden Globe Awards 2020. The star-studded night witnessed the biggest of the stars as they took home the golden trophy with them. While the biggest video streaming platform, Netflix, had a setback as its movies and shows didn’t receive as many awards as one had expected although it earned 34 nominations, it was a night for 1917, Joaquin Phoenix and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Universal Pictures’ 1917 bagged the Best Motion Picture award beating The Irishman, Joker, Marriage Story and The Two Popes. On the other hand, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood left behind Dolemite Is My Name, Jojo Rabbit, Knives Out, and Rocketman in the Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy category. In the Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama category, Joker actor Joaquin Phoenix dominated while Renée Zellweger won the Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture for her performance in Judy.
