Akshay Kumar is on a spree with back to back big banner movies and is one of the busiest artists in the industry. While the actor recently hit the theatres with the science drama Mission Mangal, he has a number of upcoming movies up his sleeve. Akshay is an asset to the Indian box office and most of his movies do great business. Below are his top 10 highest-grossing Bollywood movies which have made him the box office ‘Khiladi’ as well.

10. Rustom (12 August 2016)

The crime thriller starring Akshay Kumar as Naval Officer Rustom Pavri was based on a real-life incident of Nava Officer K.M. Nanavati and created a great buzz at the box office. With Ileana D’Cruz, Esha Gupta, and Arjan Bajwa in prominent characters, Rustom managed to mint 14.11 crore INR on the opening day.

9. Boss (16 October 2013)

The action movie helmed by Anthony D’Souza had Akshay Kumar in the titular character alongside Mithun Chakraborty, Aditi Rao Hydari, Shiv Pandit and Ronit Roy in prominent characters. With peppy party songs and quirky dialogues, Boss collected 14.50 crore INR at the opening.

8. Rowdy Rathore (1 June 2012)

Akshay Kumar played dual characters in the Hindi remake of the super hit Telugu movie opposite Sonakshi Sinha. The power-packed action thriller received critical and commercial success and earned 15.10 crore INR on the first day.

7. Brothers (14 August 2015)

Starring Akshay Kumar and Siddharth Malhotra, Brothers was the Hindi remake of the Hollywood blockbuster Warrior. Based on mixed martial arts tournament revolving around a family drama, Brothers collected 15.20 crore INR on the first day of its release.

6. Housefull 3 (3 June 2016)

The third instalment in the comedy franchise had an ensemble cast of Akshay Kumar, Jacqueline Fernandez, Abhishek Bachchan, Ritiesh Deshmukh, Lisa Haydon, and Nargis Fakhri. The movie created a huge buzz in the industry and minted 15.21 crore INR on the opening day.

5. 2.0 (29 November 2018)

The science fiction action movie, 2.0, starred Akshay Kumar as an antagonist with superstar Rajinikanth reprising his dual characters from the first instalment of the franchise, Robot. Branded as the costliest action movie of India at that time, 2.0 collected 20.25 crore INR at the box office on the first day of its release.

4. Singh is Bliing (2 October 2015)

Starring Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson in the lead characters, Singh is Bliing proved as a commercial success at the box office despite mixed reviews by the critics. Helmed by Prabhu Deva, the movie minted 20.67 crore INR on the day of its release.

3. Kesari (21 March 2019)

Released earlier this year, Kesari tells the story of 21 Sikh soldiers engaged in a fierce battle against 10,000 Pashtun invaders. Starring Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra, the movie was well-received by the audience and the critics and it managed to collect 21.25 crore INR on its opening day.

2. Gold (15 August 2018)

Based on real events, the historical sports drama tells the story of India’s first gold medal as a free nation. The patriotic movie released on the occasion of Indian Independence Day and became an instant hit at the box office with a collection of 25.50 crore INR on the first day.

1. Mission Mangal (15 August 2019)

Released last week, Mission Mangal is based on real events of the Indian Space Research Organisation and their Mars Orbiter Mission. With an ensemble cast of Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, and Kirti Kulhari, the movie proved to be Akshay Kumar’s highest opening movie of his career as it collected 29.16 crore INR on its release date.
